PMR result is out

We were in KL the day before the result --cut short the trip and came back again to Kuantan to collect the result from the school. Along actually told us to just sms but I just felt it is not right to just sms such a thing as important as the pmr result..punya lah kan?

The result was scheduled to release at 10am and Along actually had sms earlier and a few minutes after 10am, there was an sms came into my phone and there was the result...he got 5As 3Bs. I think I wrote somewhere that we targeted for 6As and of course deep down I hope for straight As. My first reaction gettg the result I was like phewww...thank god there is no Cs..and 5As oklah. Then I went to the school hall and having listened to the school's result, I looked at Angah and told him, "Let us leave the hall"...

116 out of the 226 candidates got straight As ..it doesnt sound difficult at all if almost half can get that excellent result..and thus I have all this "what if" and "if only" theories in my mind. Abah told me with his preparation for the PMR and the results that he got from form 1 to form 3--Along's PMR result is actually a good one....true enough but still I have the "if only" he worked a little harder and if only I sent him tuition starting from form 1..perhaps the result could be better.

Anyway the good thing is , the result is a wake up call for him. It did hit him to an extent...and he told me that he wants to start tuition right away starting January. It's god will anyway, perhaps if he got a good result...he will remain complacent...relax like nobody business!

Adib actually commented this "Along punya result ni patut amik UPSR--bagus lah tu 5As"...how can you not laugh to that...ha..ha..ha. I think we were walking out of the school hall when he told me that..then he continued " Tapi mummy tak payah lah marah Along..sebab C dan D semua dah hilang--oklah tu kesian Along"....Ha..ha..ha..and we didnt scold Along just bebel sikit...I just think he should be more responsible and he has to change for his own good.

PMR is OVER...yes OVERRRRR

Oh yes PMR is over...oh yeahhhhh...now mummy can breathe ...in and out in and out...if not hah tersekat...only in cannot out looking at our dearest Along..

Having said that I do admit that Along has done his part studying eventhough it was only really accelerated like secodn half of the year..Form 2 result was trash..teruk-- failed his Agama..so for a soft start we sent Along and also Angah for tuitions starting end of 2011. Then came 2013, the examination results improves from one to another but still until the trial then the pra PMR, there were still some Cs for Agama and Sejarah....Adoiiilah....

..........he is very cheeky..Aariz adores him!

I cant recall but it was like 3 or 4 weeks before the exam, we were called to the school-- to be notified about his bad result in Sejarah..he got C but under the school's scale his was considered D--now tell me if you can swallow that and not being mega worry?? Macam nak pecah kepala.....adoiii...

Abah went to the school for that and told me how some parents actually blaming the teachers for their children bad results..Macam2 kan..?? if 100 over students do achieve As or Bs and ours are like among the minority..should we blame ourselves, the kids or the teachers? Some people kan.??..for me I know all along tapi it would be better if the teacher called us much earlier like 2 months before ke so taht we got that knock on our head! But still as I said we know all along tapi relax jugak. Coming back from that meeting, we sent Afi for one to one tutorial on Sejarah -3 weeks straight until the exam unfortunately the tuition center does not have agama,  so redha aje lah! During my time ..which was SRP...agama is like free As--

Then the moment of truth, PMR started on Oct9th..even with Angah who actually studied and I believe well prepared for UPSR I still have that usual "mummy's exam breakdown" -- u can imagine how I felt with Afi. Even abah cant deny the anxiety. Afi was rather jolly the day before the exam,  but he did look "pucat" on that very first day.

I told him, just "bismillah" and do your best...I was worried looking at him that morning. And to add further to the whole getaran jiwa, the exam started with Agama and Bahasa...adoiii.....

Few days before the exam, he told me that he has given all our 3 cars plate numbers to the school guard to ensure that they are barred from the school ground ---means he doesnt want me to visit or wait for him at his exam hall's door during the exam..ha..ha..I thought I have to give equal treatment--Angah suka aje..was complaining actually I didnt go on his 2nd day..Ni orang bujang kan--like Angah always remind me, jangan jatuhkan reputasi ha..ha..

He cant raise his eye lids further than that...he...

The exam ended yesterday...the hardest according to him is Agama--he actually checked with Mukhriz (Tok Ibu's son) how his agama and Mukhriz commented Agama mmg susah..Mukhriz used to be in sekolah agama--so Afi felt better with Mukhriz's comment but I think Mukhriz's susah could be an B or a lower A...adoii lah !
Come second is Sejarah.."oklah tapi susah sikit"..that was his comment--he told me he actually memorised all about UMNO and there was only one related question for that topic...ha..ha..ha...in the spirit of janji ditepati agak nya....ha..ha..adoiii lagi!

He lost his mobile on that very same day and have the nerve to ask for Iphone...as if dah dapat 8As..sabar aje lah..pulak nak reconcile with girl friend kan hp tak de...nasib lah..--he told bibik he will reconcile again with his GF after exam because he wanted to channel his energy and mind to the exam...ye sangat lah tu..walhal dok tot tet tot tet...

So that is all about PMR...hope for the best...he has done the usaha part eventhough not as thorough I wished he did and now kita Tawakal aje...

We recited yasin one of the nites before exam...adib sampai tertidur punya doa :)

Along and Adib's birthday

For the past 7 years we have been celebrating Adib and Along's birthday together....for obvious reason that their birthdays fall in the same month - oct- and in fact, Adib's birthday is just a day before Along's. Then for this year we happened to arrange Aariz's bercukur in Oct so we tot yeah why not throw the party on the same day...and we had the birthday bash...

Being a teenager, Along was not that keen with this birthday party thingy...but being a mom, it is just necessary for me...and thus, we used our parents' right and forced him to just stand there...and he did reluctantly...good boy!
Nothing much actually, adib blew the candles...then we distribute the goodies, shared the cake and that' about all.
At the end of the day, I asked Adib...if he's happy with the birthday bash...

Thank god...he said he did.."Adib happy tapi hadiah sikit tahun ni semua untuk Aariz aje"..oucchhhh

Then Angah menyampuk happily "yeah birthday Angah nanti Angah sorang"

So... I just got to remind him "Tahun ni yours will be with Aariz lah...Aariz kan december"
And Angah .."ah..ah...ya.."...he..he..tough luck :)

Adib and Along's birthday

It has been ages since my last posting in this blog...we have passed Ramadan, Hari Raya, my pregnancy is now at 21 weeks - has gotten over the hump with 19 weeks to go before arrival of the most awaited "bundle of joy'.

Last saturday , we organised a party to celebrate Along's 13th and Adib's 6th birthday at home. Adib has been looking forward, as for Along being a teenage boy-- he was not so keen but still invited some friends. We had kids from the Lorong itself, Angah's friends, some friends of Along and Pekan's team. Unfortunately, not a single friend of Adib turn up except for Arif because according to Adib " dia orang tak tahu mana Adib duduk - Adib dah bagi direction tapi tetap tak tahu". They are not staying in the same lane actually!

Being concern he brought some goodies bags the next day to padang for his closed friends...sangat prihatin, right!

At the very last minute, we decided to have the party outside...i guess it's about time for us to undergo a house renovation :)

How the "grounded" play

I granted Along permission to play football by himslef within the lawn. The boys love football and since world cup started, the whole group of kids have been playing footie every evening at the nearby field. So when Along requested to play within the lawn, i just cant say no...ok as long as you stay within the lawn....

And he did.....the friends outside the gate and he within the lawn.....

we just let him played:-)

Along is grounded!

Along did badly in the last exam...the worst in history....never occured in my mind that he could get that far behind....the one and only contributor is his own laziness....for not doing his homework and own revision.
for that he is grounded until the next exam, so for now, no football, no computer....just books and school and the piano and the treadmill...fullstop!.....but am not strict enough myself to forbid television as well....:(..

Almost everyday, I am checking with bibik and adib, whether or not Along follow the restrictions, and the one who always voluntarily answering my questions will be Angah...and I asked him,

Mummy: yang kau backing sangat Along ni kenapa?

Angah: dia kan abang Angah.....

Angah even made a suggestion to permit Along to play football during weekends....and it was plainly turned down!

"Along, ...please for your own good......do your homework+revision, pay attention in class....you know why you got an A for JAsmani ? because that is the only thing that you religiously do all year round...i.e. playing !! So same principles apply to other subjects, revision is all you need for an A.....or a better grades...."

A self retreat at Secret Recipe, Indera Mahkota

Right after the ceremony, a group of girls suggested for a lunch at Secret Recipe. They got RM125 in cash each thus it's like a self retreat, and this occasion would be the final gathering they would have....

So i sent Along and some of Along's friends to SR for a one and a half hour lunch....And as usual Angah will join along.

It takes them 1 minute or so to decide who should sit besides the girl...and I guess Angah has no choice but to just oblige to the older boys' instruction.

Our littke Adib actually wanted to stay as well, but the boys all in one voice opposed to the idea...kesian...

Adib will always try to act like a teenager when he is around Along's friends...look at his face expression.....and he will even talk in such a way..."aku this and that"....

Hari PIBG dan Penyampaian hadiah SKIM

Today is Hari Penyampaian Hadiah for SRK indera MAhkota...I am a committee for the PIBG thus has been helping with the preparation since friday...the help was more on comments than anything:)

Unfortunately, Angah missed his chance to get any prizes this year, and Daniel commented to mummy, "tahun ni saya dapat lawan Aimran". Mesti menanah hati Angah and he replied "ehhh...geram nya aku"...that is definitely a challenge Angah!

As for Along, after a long 6 years in sekolah rendah, at last he got his chance to go up the stage for 5A's prize and certificate, both from the school itself and Yayasan Pahang. He got the invitation early this week, and was telling me..."akhirnya Mummy, Afi dapat jugak hadiah untuk sekolah rendah". Few days back, another question, "...macam mana nak jalan atas pentas tu mummy, afi tak biasa ni"...He's excited...who would not, right?

The Police Cadet

First year in secondary school, Along has excitedly chosen Cadet Police as his uniformed Co -Curriculum activities. The whole uniform together with the cap resembles perfectly with the real police uniform and even more with that silver bracelet hang to the shirt. I dont think policeman have that, right?

This is his first day wearing the uniform, and he happily asked me to snap a picture or two for his new facebook profile pic. I ended up took couple of pictures because I just cant stand his Garfield eyes...he..he..he.....it is just too droopy...geram betul kah..kah..kah...

He will be wearing this uniform every wednesday...ironically, he wore the uniform yesterday and by noon, he was informed that there will be a matching activity that same afternoon and he actually skipped that because the weather was boiling hot......

A Long process to Secondary School

As mentioned before Along got his 5As for UPSR---is that confirmed him a good selected school for secondary??? the answer is NO. As I have been telling others, 5As these days are like melimpah ruah and places in those schools are so limited.

First of all, there is no such thing as being offered these days...everything , need to be applied...be it Science or MRSM or Integrasi or even Sekolah Rancangan Khas --the last 2 schools are new to people at my age.

Right after UPSR, we applied for Science school - initially we thought we wanted to send off Along to Boarding simply because we have concern about his lazy habit.....

When the result is out, within 10 days we sent another application and this round was for MRSM....both are e-application but still hardcopy need to be mailed to the respective school...strange huh!

The Rancangan Khas (RK)application is done through the school. due to some miscommunication or maybe Along is just hayal...he did not apply for the rancangan khas.

A week or 2 before the new term started - result for Science came out and "dukacita-permohonan anda GAGAL"- we failed the application. On second thought , I think it's a blessing in disguise--somehow I think , me particularly--I am just not ready to let Afi out of my sight...not yet!

So we waited for RK, thinking that all 5As achievers would be placed in selected schools like RK automatically. After checked with one of the teachers, it turned out my expectation was all wrong. As mentioned earlier RK need to be applied as well.

There is only one choice left i.e. to APPEAL and that was what we did...

Another waiting period, in the meantime we enrolled Along to Panglima Perang - a school next door.

After 2-3 visits and a few calls to the Jabatan Pelajaran--the effort was like all out , using every channels that we can--not only us but also from Aki and Tok , alhamdulillah 2 weeks after the school new term opened, we got the offer letter for Sekolah Men Sultan Abu Bakar (SABS), an RK school...

Last Friday Jan 18th---both Along and myself had our little tour around Kuantan, first went to Jabatan to pick up the offer letter

then to Panglima Perang to daftar keluar

and later to SABS for registration--we actually made 3 rounds at Jalan Beserah before finding SABS....pphewwww.....i guess i cant call myself a Kuantanese as yet!Entrance to SABS..

Thus mummies, daddies, aunties, uncles, brotehrs and sisters out there----do take note on those application...if you applied first hand , insyallah they will spare a place for your kiddo --to go thru the appeal process is really tiring---the waiting is just overwhelming!

Half day spent from one jabatan and 2 schools, we indulged ourselves with Mc D--Along's choice!

Thank Allah everything settled and Afi seems to be happy with SABS....

Futsal

A new activity to open 2010. Last friday when i came back from work Angah told me that he would like to join 3 "Ko-Ku" (co-curriculum) activities in school. They are the Boys' Scouts, Kelab Benteras Jenayah (Committee to stop crime) -yes, there is such activity in school now and the school Football Club. So I told him, I am ok as long as he able to split his time between all these activities and his studies.

It did not stop there he then told me to ensure that he will be selected for the football team , a regular practice is crucial, so he made suggestion for a regular play at a nearby futsal courts for him and his team --somehow he has like a team already for std 4 pupils only-i guess. He then talked to Abah and he was granted the green light.

Thus last saturday Angah and Along made some arrangements with some friends, the fee is 50 per hour so they need to have at least 10 pax...combinations of some std4 up to form 2 boys - most of angah's friends at school are not staying nearby so they only gathered those staying in the neighbourhood.

On sunday after lunch about 1, i sent them to the court....

They all enjoyed themselves and Angah happily told me that this is going to be a weekly routine...
